Europe Moving Closer to Trade Talks with U.S., But with Preconditions

A key European Parliament committee last week recommended that the European Union enter into negotiations with the United States on a comprehensive free trade agreement. The EP's International Trade Committee says it supports the launch of talks towards a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), and called on EU governments to give the European Commission permission to negotiate on the bloc's behalf in June.
