EU Trade Commissioner Wants FTA Negotiations with U.S. to Begin Early in 2013

EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht has hinted that the bloc and the U.S. could start negotiations on a comprehensive free trade agreement (FTA) early next year, calling for talks "as soon as possible."

"I believe we should convince people in Europe that a deepening of trade relations with the U.S. is to our benefit, despite the sacrifices any compromise entails," concluded De Gucht.
