Future Crop Estimates in Drought Years

In my opinion you need to look back to 1977 or 1956 for comparable years.

1977 USDA final estimate was 6.36 Bil Bu vs 6.1 Bil Bu August estimate. That final estimate was 4% above the August. USDA archives did not have an August estimate for the 1956 crop. The annual report for '56 listed all corn production at 3.45 Bil Bu. Also--Informa is calling for a final US corn crop this year of 11.2 Billion bushels, around 4% above the USDA 10.8 Bil Bu August estimate.
