Life is a Highway Full of Bumps and Detours
Route 66, for all its tourism and historic lore, is a battered, forgotten road in many areas in every state I have toured thus far. There doesn't seem to be a quick remedy for that anytime soon. Members of Congress are a bit more concerned about simply making the Highway Trust Fund cash flow through the current election cycle rather than look at any kind of road or infrastructure program that would create a lasting fix to protect some of the country's roads from crumbling further.[Read Full Blog Post]

There is a mandatory set aside of 10% of the fed funding from the fuel tax to go to painting bike paths, hiking paths and such. If you notice none of this funding goes to rural areas but is used by the cities. Then the state governments allocate the lions share to the high usage areas and that is why , even when they do come up with the billions, do you really think they are going to spend it on county roads? And how much does Jay pay every year to drive his electric car all over the roads other people are paying for?
