Summer Fuel Demand Underpin Higher Spot Ethanol Prices

Spot ethanol prices gained this morning in the major trading hubs of New York, Chicago and California, though early gains have since been pared. Prices were boosted by the prospect for higher fuel demand as the peak summer driving season gets underway. The Memorial Day holiday, which was observed yesterday, kicked off the summer driving season.

Tomorrow transfer ethanol at Argo near Chicago traded unchanged $2.405 per gallon early afternoon; Northern California ethanol traded at $2.69 per gallon this morning, up 3.5 cents; New York Harbor May barged ethanol was talked $2.38/$2.41 per gallon bid/ask, up 0.5 cents.
