Spot Ethanol Prices Post Losses on Higher Ethanol Supply

Spot ethanol prices retreated further Thursday afternoon on easing supply concerns after Energy Information Administration data showed ethanol stocks surged to a 16.5 million bbl seven-week high last week, with East Coast supply at a 5.5 million bbl, 10-week high.

Prompt transfer ethanol at Argo near Chicago was discussed at a $2.30 to $2.35 per gallon bid/ask, down 7.5 cents, with today delivered ethanol barge at Sewaren in the New York Harbor talked at a $2.35 to $2.52 per gallon bid/ask, down 2.0 cents. Prompt delivered ethanol in northern California traded at $2.71 per gallon, down 5.0 cents.
