Spot Ethanol Prices Climb as Demand Picks Up

U.S. spot ethanol prices edged higher in early trade Monday, extending gains from last week on talk demand is picking up while supply is limited. "It's all about demand," said an East Coast-based trader. "Inventories are very low ... they are below what the level we've seen for this time of the year."

New York Harbor barged December ethanol was notionally pegged at $3.59 gallon, up 1.5 cents on the session. Today transfer ethanol at the Argo terminal near Chicago was seen at $2.59 gallon, up 4 cents, and Dec. 13 transfer traded at $2.53 gallon.
