Spot Ethanol Values Rebound on Supply Fears, Corn Gains

U.S. spot ethanol prices posted steep gains early Monday, rebounding from Friday's decline on a technically-driven rally for Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ahead of Tuesday's expiration by the May contract and on bullish supply and demand fundamentals for ethanol.

Old crop supplies remain tight, demand is up while ethanol profit margins are favorable, said Brandon Marshall, an analyst at Northstar Commodity Investment. "Corn is pushing up the ethanol and inventories are still low all over especially east," added another trader.
