Cash Ethanol Prices Pressured by Corn Futures Decline

U.S. spot ethanol prices fell in early trade under pressure from a retreat for corn futures amid speculation there's more supply than previously anticipated. "Corn yields are coming in better than people expected and that's putting pressure on prices," said analyst Chris Nagel at Northstar Investment Co. in Minneapolis, Minn. A federal weekly crop progress report due out Monday afternoon is expected to show 42% to 43% of the corn crop harvest and 20% to 23% of the soybean harvest have been completed.
