Spot Ethanol Prices Pressured by Bearish Supply Data

U.S. spot ethanol prices tumbled early Wednesday after the U.S. government released two reports that were bearish on corn and ethanol supply.

The Energy Information Administration reported a 221,000 bbl build for ethanol stockpiles last week as implied demand fell 53,000 bpd or 6.3% to 788,000 bpd.

Also, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's report revised down its corn yields estimate but by a smaller margin than analysts expected, prompting a selloff for corn and pressing down ethanol futures on the Chicago Board of Trade.
