Spot ethanol prices were mixed with a downside bias early Friday after coming under pressure from easing concern about supply. A trade source said plants resuming normal service after maintenance programs were ramping up production while demand was weakening after the end of the summer peak driving season.
Federal data yesterday showed ethanol plant output nationwide jumped 10,000 bpd to 829,000 bpd last week, a two-month high that helped to boost total domestic inventories by 200,000 bpd to 18.7 million bpd for the final week of August.
